October '08 Interview with Alabama's Cliff Ousley

Cliff Ousley (KTM) put in an excellent year with winning the SERA Enduro Championship, SERA Hare Scramble Championship, and the Open A class in the AMA National Enduro series (Overall A and 9th overall).  Read below for a quick follow-up with Cliff:

Cliff on his '08 season:

(White text-Cliff Ousley)
Well this year has turned out better than I could ever imagine, it was pretty much a dream season for me.  This year I just rode smooth and tried not to take myself out of the race.  My favorite race would have to be the national in Louisiana, because I learned so much that day.  That was also my best national finish for the year.  All of the SERA series races are always very well organized.

On consistency:

I known I had the speed to be up front, but it was just getting it in my head that I should be there every race no matter what the condition.

On his KTM 300:

My mods are a secret, just kidding, I don’t have anything motor wise, just a FMF pipe and silencer, and it is an XC.  The ’09 has a little bit better suspension than the ’08, and I’m a big fan of the electric start.  Yes, I’ll be on 2-strokes for quite a while I hope.  I’ve got to say, the 300XC is the best bike for me

On school, partying, and girls:

Well, I graduated from Auburn University in May (sadly), and I moved to Gulf Shores about four months ago, so there is always time to get some partying in.  I do have a girlfriend that lives in gulf shores as well.

His buddy Taylor Reynolds:

I do wish he was still with us racing, and he is.  He has been a big inspiration to my results this year, because he had taught me so much.  I always liked racing with Taylor because he was the first to tell you congratulations or he was the first one to tell you that he smoked you.

Upcoming Goals:

I would like to get a podium in the nationals, but I’ve
got a long way to go.

Thanks to:

I want to thank my family, Greg, Phil, and everyone at Performance Powersports.  And Mike Reynolds, without him I wouldn’t have won three championships this year….

Good Luck Cliff!
